Xiao Ming is an illustrator who has a passion for editorial illustrations and visual storytelling. His work portrays interesting and quirky characters in surreal states, injecting an emotional quality into his style to connect with his viewers.
Growing up, he spent most of his childhood days reading many different adventure comics. He also loved doodling on his school’s table because it was a cheap way to get his mind off things (also because it was fun vandalizing school property). Doodling gave him the opportunity to run free with his imagination and discover his creative and artistic skills.
His influences stem from things that we’re unfamiliar with, in other words, the things we’re afraid of. With a combination of unusual subjects, themes, and a bright color palette, he creates mysterious yet fun works of art that reflect the grim reality of society.
